SUPPLEMENTARY
1879 N Milwaukee Ave
Chicago, IL 60647

There are 3 doors to enter the building. You’re looking for the middle door, labeled “Supplementary”. Ring the bell upon arrival.

The studio is a short walk from the Western Blue Line stop. If driving, there is plenty of metered parking right out front, but there are many side streets nearby with free, non-permit parking. I recommend looking down the stretch of W Cortland St in between Armitage and Milwaukee for free parking.

NO SHOES POLICY

The studio is an inside-shoes-only space. You'll be asked to remove your shoes upon entry. We have slides of several sizes on hand for your use (these are sanitized between each client), but feel free to wear socks or bring along your own slippers.

PAYMENT

I am able to accept cash, card payments, PayPal or payments through Zelle. When possible, Zelle or cash is preferred, as those payment methods come without a processing fee. I am happy to offer card payments, but they are least desirable on my end due to the processing fees. I cannot accept any other forms of payment, sorry!

COVID POLICY

Leading up to your appointment, pay close attention to how you feel. If you are feeling at all unwell in any manner, please email to reschedule. It is not advisable to heal a tattoo while recovering from illness.

You may be asked to wear a mask during your appointment. We will provide you with one if so.

GENERAL TATTOO-PREP TIPS

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area(s) you're getting tattooed. Don't wear anything you would be sad to get an ink/blood/stencil stain on! I try to work as neatly as possible, but tattooing is an inherently messy process.

Bring water and snacks or a small meal. During long tattoo sessions, a food break will be planned. It is best to eat a high quality meal an hour before your appointment to ensure your blood sugar remains stable during your tattoo.

Stay hydrated, inside and out! Well-hydrated, healthy skin is far easier to tattoo. To ensure your skin is the healthiest version of itself, get in the habit of drinking enough water in the weeks leading up to your appointment and develop a moisturizing lotion routine. Keeping your tattoos well moisturized and protected with sunscreen after your artwork has healed will help keep them looking *crispy*.

Get a good night's rest before and after your appointment. Rest is key to healing. Easier said than done, I know, but do your best!

Please avoid heavy alcohol consumption in the days leading up to and following your tattoo appointment.

ACCESSIBILITY

The studio has standard storefront access and was built out in compliance with ADA accessibility standards. If you have any questions about the physical space or my work process ahead of time, please let me know.

I have done my best to source furniture that is sturdy and comfortable for a variety of bodies. I lay clients down for most tattoo placements, if possible. My massage table has a working weight limit of 750lbs (static weight limit of 3000lbs) and has pretty good cushioning, as far as massage tables go. If laying down doesn't work for you, together we will assess the chair options I have to find a solution that is as comfortable as possible for you.

You are more than welcome to bring headphones and zone out during your tattoo if you need a distraction. I am happy to chat with you if the placement allows (i.e. some torso placements require you to not speak so as to stay still, some placements I'm too far from your head to hear you over my machines, etc. – it's a case by case basis), but please know you do not have to entertain me during the process. Clear communication of your needs and concerns pertaining to the tattoo/tattooing process is all I require. Quiet is not rude :)

PRIVACY

There is a private bathroom within the studio. Each workstation has some form of privacy curtain/screen blocking the view from the street so you're not completely on display to passersby, but please note that the studio may have a few people milling about at any given time and the workspace is relatively open-plan. It is common for tattooers to want to look at each other's work – it's a great learning tool for us and we're genuinely excited about one another's work. We'll do our best to make sure everyone who comes through the studio respects each others' privacy and asks for consent before coming up to look at your tattoo. If at any point during the process you feel this privacy has not been upheld or respected by any person in the space, let me know and I will address the situation.

Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to our appointment!
